Terms of Use

By using www.aucklandtourism.org you accept the terms below. They are short, and they mostly amount to one thing: this is a free reference site written by one person, and you are responsible for checking anything you are about to spend money or daylight on.

What we publish, and what it is worth

Guides are researched from operators’ own published information, Auckland Transport, Auckland Council and the Department of Conservation, and are written to be accurate on the day they are published or updated. They are general information, not advice for your particular trip.

Auckland moves faster than a published page. Ferry timetables change between summer and winter and again on public holidays; Auckland Transport fares and HOP card rules are revised; attractions change hours and prices; restaurants close; events are cancelled or moved. Before you rely on a specific time, fare, price or opening hour on this site, confirm it with the operator. If it costs you money or a morning, that check is on you.

Outdoors, water and safety

This deserves its own paragraph because Auckland’s outdoors kills people who treat it casually.

  • West coast beaches. Piha, Muriwai, Bethells and Karekare have powerful rips and are the subject of a large share of New Zealand’s surf rescues. Swim between the flags at a patrolled beach during patrol season, or do not swim.
  • Tides and causeways. Rangitoto, the Waitākere coast and several Hauraki Gulf walks are tide-dependent. Check the tide before you set out, not when you are already out.
  • Kauri dieback. Tracks in the Waitākere and Hunua Ranges open and close at short notice. Obey closures and use the cleaning stations. A track described as open in a guide may not be open today — check the Auckland Council and DOC track alerts.
  • Weather. Auckland’s weather turns quickly and conditions on the ranges and the coast are not the conditions in the CBD.

Nothing on this site is a safety assessment or a substitute for current official advice, local signage or your own judgement. You take part in any activity described here at your own risk.

We are not the operator

Auckland Tourism Guide sells nothing, books nothing and represents nobody. We are not an agent for any hotel, ferry, tour or restaurant mentioned, and we are not affiliated with Auckland Council, Auckland Transport, Tātaki Auckland Unlimited or any tourism authority. Any transaction you make is between you and that business. Complaints, refunds and disputes go to them.

Links out

Where a guide links to another website it is because the information there is useful, not because of any commercial arrangement. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or availability.

Copyright

The text, structure and original photography on this site belong to Auckland Tourism Guide. You are welcome to quote a short extract with a visible link back. Republishing whole guides, or feeding them into a derivative site, is not permitted.

Some images are used under the terms of their respective licences and remain the property of their creators. Māori place names, including Tāmaki Makaurau, are used with respect for their origin; no claim is made over them.

If you believe something here infringes your copyright, say so through the contact page with the specific page and the material in question, and it will be removed or attributed promptly.

Acceptable use

Do not scrape the site at a rate that degrades it, attempt to break into it, or use the contact form to send bulk or automated messages. Access may be blocked without notice where that happens.

Liability

The site is provided as it is, without warranty that it is complete, current or error-free. To the fullest extent the law allows, Auckland Tourism Guide is not liable for loss arising from your use of it — including a missed ferry, a closed track, a price that has changed, or an experience that did not match the description.

Nothing here limits any right you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded by agreement.

Changes

These terms may be revised; the current version is always the one on this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept it. See also the privacy policy and the about page.
